We are in Lima! After a long trip via Antwerp and Amsterdam we flew 12,5 hours to arrive in Lima. Yes, via Antwerp. That’s because our KLM tickets were around €700,= cheaper from Antwerp than directly from Schiphol Airport! Anyhow, the trip went fine and so we arrived Monday around 6pm local time in the capital of Peru. There we found a taxi driver waiting for us, to take us to the studio we booked. We had to wait a little before it was ready for us, but at around 10pm we were there. We went outside to buy some drinks, and luckily we stay above a little grocery shop where we could buy all we wanted. We had a few drinks and then fell asleep after a very long day, determined to battle our jetlag!
Next morning, after waking up, we walk towards the seaside where we admired the view at the ocean. We walked on to a shopping centre called Larcomar trying to find a place for breakfast. Unfortunately, the places here didn’t look very attractive and were expensive, so we walked into Av. Jose Larco to find something else. There we found Chef’s Cafe where we had a real nice breakfast for a much better price. After breakfast, we walked to see Tia Haydee, Mery’s aunt who booked all the domestic flights for us. She was happy and surprised with the stroopwavels we brought her. We continued to visit local attractions like Parque Kennedy, Parque 7 Junio, Iglesia de la Virgin Milagrosa. We ran across a super touristic market with artisan souvenirs but bought nothing. We had lunch in a nice place called La Lucha, where we ate roast beef sandwich with cheese and fries, and the waiter made Oliver taste a funny fruit called granadilla. We walked home and Daniël slept for three hours, still fighting his jetlag. In the evening, we went out for a very nice dinner in a lovely place called Saqra, where we had our first ceviche of our trip, accompanied by a very nice Peruvian wine.
